Favorite Summer Things ☀️
From the bougie to the basic. 😘
All the items are on my ShopMy!
I only recommend items I am currrently using. 😉
I know we are barreling toward the fall (RUDE), but I am firmly staying in summer thankyouverymuch.
I refuse to be bullied into the future.
The last twelve months have been the most intense of my life, and I am looking forward to some fun and ease.
Life will continue to life, that’s a guarantee, but I am more than ready to gently help my body and spirit heal from a huge surgery and chronic stress.
So, here’s what is making me happy!
Ouai detox shampoo is great for me weekly and even better for my daughter with very thick hair!
I like the Zum hand soap because it smells good.
The Jergens self-tanner is my current favorite.
I also have been loving the Dazzle Dry colors, Boss and Anticipation.
I have been wearing these Old Navy Tee Shirts NON-STOP.
(me in the old navy tee, my eldest is wearing to, too)
The Reef Sandals look good with a bathing suit and with a dress.
The Wallaroo hat has seen the Charleston SC sun, the Greek sun, and the DC sun and has kept me safe. After a melanoma diagnosis, I don’t fuck with the protection.
(me, wearing the Wallaroo hat)
Speaking of sun protection, I wore the Amazon button-up shirt non-stop on my travels, and it kept me from burning!
(me in the sun shirt)
I sleep in the Dr. Loretta tightening mask! My skin lurvs it.
I’ve tried every pressed powder the world has to offer, but the Kosas pressed powder is simply the best. That’s that.
(wearing the powder around my nose and t-zone)
I have prescription Azelaic Acid (thanks menopause), but this Paula’s Choice is the next best choice for breakouts.
I cannot stop wearing rose-infused scents, and the Liis and the Clarins are on heavy rotation.
Other Stuff I Like:
🥤 I cannot stop drinking San Pellegrino CIAO! With small crushed ice and fresh lime! Delish.
🍒 I also cannot stop eating cherries. By the bowl. Non-stop.
🥨 Snyder’s Hard Pretzels. I cannot stop eating them. With cottage cheese. With mustard. I have a problem.
🍑 Greek Yogurt with peaches.
🍛 This NYT stir fry recipe with ground chicken and green beans.
Watching:
📺 Survival of the Thickest (Netflix)
📺 Ludwig (Britbox)
📺 Elle (Amazon)
📺 All sports, especially tennis!
Listening:
🎶 I love Kacey Musgraves new album. I love her. Her vibe is always on point.
🎶 And I don’t care that I’m 50, Olivia Rodrigo’s new album is pop loveliness.
🎶 This Tiny Desk is heavenly: Brandi Carlile, accompanied by Sista Strings. And this Brandi cover of Alanis at the Newport Festival is fucking fire.
Books:
I’ve listened to these books (and l use Libro instead of Audible to support independent bookstores!):
🎧Adult Braces - I think that I may just be too old to care about Adult Braces, but I have to say I enjoyed listening to it while I drove. I guess. I dunno, she’s kinda annoying.
🎧Go Gentle - Excellent, but the end feels like a major womp womp.
🎧So Old, So Young - I loved this book.
🎧Yesteryear - What a ride. I mean, whoa. Left me thinking a lot about my views.
🎧Sandwich - Listening to this while reading The Wife at the same time was a mind-bender.
I’ve read (Using Libby):
📖 The Griffin Sister’s Greatest Hits - Meh. Vivid characters, womp womp story.
📖 The Wife - Every character made me mad, which makes for an interesting read.
📖 The Recovering- Great mix of memoir and the history of sober movements. Captivating.
Shit I’m Looking Forward To Seeing, Watching, Doing etc:
🎥 The Odyssey. I taught it for 6 years, I’m geeked to see it.
📺 Margo’s Got Money Problems (Apple TV)
🎤 Mon Rovia’s new album, Bloodline, is beautiful. I am excited to see him in concert next month.
🎤 Seeing Joy Oladokan in concert.
🤣 Seeing Laura Ramosa’s comedy show.
🏳️🌈 The Bald and the Beautiful Show. IYKYK.
💪🏾 Eventually restarting my Callie Gullickson workouts on Peloton. She is so blond and peppy and young and everything I am not. I love her. I was never stronger (at 50) than when I did her weightlifting classes.
